BridgeCom SkyBridge Plus factory default configuration (2021-10-28)
====================================================================

WHAT THIS IS
------------
BridgeCom Systems' default SkyBridge configuration file, dated 28 October
2021 (all entries inside the zip carry that date). It is a Pi-Star
"Backup/Restore" configuration zip. BridgeCom's support article describes it
as "a zip file that, when uploaded to your SkyBridge, will reset it to factory
condition."

It is configuration data only, not an operating-system image or firmware.
Uploading it replaces the hotspot's settings (callsign, DMR ID, frequencies,
networks, display) with BridgeCom's factory defaults, which use placeholder
values: callsign M1ABC, DMR ID 1234567, and Pi-Star's stock network and
gateway settings. The MMDVMHost settings select a Nextion display on the
modem port (Display=Nextion, [Nextion] Port=modem, ScreenLayout=3).

No earlier or later version of this file was found.

APPLIES TO
----------
BridgeCom SkyBridge Plus running BridgeCom's Pi-Star-based software, which
BridgeCom's article describes as "Pi-Star, which is the OS running on the
SkyBridge Plus."

Current SkyBridge Plus and SkyBridge MAX units are reimaged by BridgeCom with
the WPSD image (see the WPSD SkyBridge MAX/Plus image entry in this archive).
Whether a WPSD-based SkyBridge accepts this Pi-Star configuration zip could
not be confirmed; it was published for the Pi-Star-based units.

BEFORE STARTING
---------------
  - The SkyBridge powered on, past its initializing screen, on the same
    network as the computer.
  - A web browser.
  - Back up the current configuration first (step 5 below). The restore
overwrites every existing setting; BridgeCom: "only upload this file if
you are sure you need to restore to factory settings."
  - After the restore, the callsign, DMR ID, frequency, network passwords and
talkgroups must be entered again, so have them at hand.

INSTALLATION
------------
From BridgeCom's article "How to Backup and Restore Your SkyBridge Plus
Configuration":

 1. Power on the SkyBridge and wait past the initializing screen.
 2. In a web browser on the same network, enter the IP address shown in the
upper-left corner of the SkyBridge display, or visit http://pi-star.local
 3. Click Configuration. If prompted, log in with username pi-star and
    password raspberry.
 4. Select Backup/Restore at the top of the page.
 5. (Backup first.) Click the green down-arrow button to save the current
configuration to the computer as a zip file.
 6. Click Choose File and select SkyBridge-Config-20211028.zip.
 7. Click the green up-arrow button to load it onto the SkyBridge.

The dashboard's exact messages during the restore are not documented by
BridgeCom and could not be confirmed.

VERIFYING
---------
After the restore the dashboard shows the placeholder callsign M1ABC and DMR
ID 1234567 in place of the previous values. Enter the real callsign, DMR ID,
frequency and network details on the Configuration page and apply them.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
-----------------------
  - Restore the backup saved in step 5 the same way (Choose File, green
    up arrow).
  - "It will not work if unzipped": upload the zip exactly as supplied.
  - If the SkyBridge does not get past "Initializing", BridgeCom's remedy is
to reimage the microSD card (see the WPSD SkyBridge MAX/Plus image
entry); its guide attributes most initializing errors to a failing power
    supply and a corrupted card.
