Uniden SDS100 firmware 1.02.05b main (open beta)
================================================

WHAT THIS IS
Open-beta main firmware 1.02.05b, posted on 22 June 2018. It continued the
1.02.05a tests and added a check of inconsistent results between 0 and 1
second hold-time settings.

IMPORTANT: BETA - superseded. Posted by Uniden (forum user UPMan) in a
RadioReference open-beta thread; kept for the record. A scanner should run the
current public release via Sentinel.

This is BETA firmware from 2018-2019. Uniden hosted it in the "PartnerWeb"
area of its support wiki and announced it in RadioReference open-beta threads.
It is superseded and is kept for the record only.

APPLIES TO
The Uniden SDS100 (US model) only. Not for the SDS100E/SDS200E, SDS150,
BCD436HP or BCD536HP.

BEFORE STARTING
  - A Windows PC and the scanner's USB cable (SDS100: mini-USB port on the
side; SDS200: mini-USB port on the front).
  - A backup of the whole microSD card and of the Favorites Lists (Sentinel).
  - SDS100: a charged battery. SDS200: the power supply connected.

CONTENTS OF THIS ZIP
The download zip holds the vendor file exactly as Uniden published it, plus
this README.txt and SHA256SUMS.

  SDS-100_V1_02_05b.bin (2162688 bytes)
    SHA-256 1cf343098d2fa577154adf5ddc21dce699990e5e3d027c60d4266b887c542e82

INSTALLATION
Uniden's beta posts gave only brief steps ("copy the appropriate file ... to
the firmware folder of your scanner and reboot"); the fuller steps below
follow Uniden's later manual-install readmes for the same scanners.

  1. Connect the scanner and choose Mass Storage (press E at "Select USB
     mode").
  2. Open the removable disk, then BCDx36HP -> firmware. Leave the two .dat
     files alone.
  3. Copy SDS-100_V1_02_05b.bin into the "firmware" folder.
  4. Restart the scanner; it applies the update while booting. Do not
     interrupt it.

VERIFYING
Menu -> Settings -> See Scanner Information -> Firmware Version.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
  - Beta firmware was issued for testing and carries no support. Return to a
public release with Sentinel -> UPDATE -> Update Firmware.
  - If the scanner will not start properly after files were removed from the
"firmware" folder, Sentinel -> Clear User Data rebuilds the card (erasing
    user data).

DOWNGRADING
Moving back to an older public build by hand uses the same copy-and-restart
method with that build's files. Sentinel always installs the newest release.
